National Student Survey
Loughborough has again been rated as one of the UK’s top universities for student satisfaction in this year’s National Student Survey.
The survey, published on September 11, 2008, places Loughborough fourth in the UK, based on the percentage of full-time students rating their overall satisfaction with their university course as ‘four’ or ‘five’ on a five-point scale. Ninety-one per cent of the University’s students gave the University this score.
The survey results also show that Loughborough students achieved a response rate of eighty per cent in the survey – the highest for any university.
Loughborough was ranked the top institution in the UK for overall satisfaction in six subject areas – Physics and Astronomy; Chemical, Process and Energy Engineering; Materials and Minerals Technology; Other Technology subjects, which covers Loughborough’s Ergonomics courses; Building; and Information Services.
In total, 22 out of 30 – almost 75% – of Loughborough’s subject areas were ranked in the top ten for overall satisfaction.
As part of the survey students are asked to rate their satisfaction in seven areas of their degree programme – teaching, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources, personal development, and overall satisfaction.
Professor Shirley Pearce, Vice Chancellor of Loughborough University, said: “The results from this latest National Student Survey confirm the findings from previous years and provide further confirmation of our exceptional record for quality in teaching and learning. We are very proud indeed that so many of our subject areas are ranked in the top 10 in UK.”
